In his speech, the Prime Minister spoke of a turning point in the audiovisual landscape in Rodrigues. The island previously had only four TV channels and two radio channels (2014).

The Head of Government recalled that it was in 2019 that Rodrigues was connected to the MARS submarine fibre optic cable, thus enabling the inhabitants to have access to high-speed internet.
