It’s urgent, says Jimmy Gassel – director of djbingprodlabel! And for good reason, according to him: “Sega isn’t what it used to be. The younger generation isn’t very interested in it any more, even though this style of music is what makes our country so beautiful. I’m organizing this event, to be held on April 6 at the Henessy Park Hotel, in order to restore sega to its former glory.”
For this first edition, Jimmy has called on the young stars of sega: “The audience will be treated to young singers such as Jah Mike, Yansley, Dominique Vaillant and Olivier Machabé. A big name in sega will also be there, but for the moment it’s still a surprise. Tickets are on sale at Otayo at Rs 300 presale. They will be available at Rs 500 on the day of the concert.
What’s more, Jimmy has also put his own spin on Nitish Joganah’s song ‘Krapo kriyer’: “Released in 1981, this song has come down through the ages. To give it another life, I remixed it to make an Afro house track. The ultimate aim is to promote it abroad so that as many people as possible can dance to it. A video clip will also be available at the same time as the remix in the coming weeks!”
