Joanna Berenger, the MMM MP, was interrogated following a complaint lodged by Luxshmee Ramdhun-Bundhun, president of the Hindu House, in July 2022. This was initiated following a Creole expression that the MP of the Mouvement Militant Mauricien (MMM) had posted on her Facebook page. The complainant believes that this message would have prejudiced a section of the population and she demands an apology from the MP.
Joanna Bérenger was at the Central Barracks, in the company of her lawyer, Me Kishore Pertab. Three hours later, she came out in the company of her lawyer who declared that everything was said before the investigators.
For the MP, all this is a way for the MSM to divert the attention of Mauritians on the real problems of the country.
Among the many people who came to support her, we notice Jacques Maunick, the author of a book of expression in Kreol Morisyen. It is a support of choice, especially since Jacques Maunick is a close relative of Kobita Jugnauth.
