Jérémie Azmoth dances in the air with aerial straps. Originally from Roche-Bois, the acrobat dreams of opening his own circus school.
He is proof that you can succeed, no matter where you come from. Coming from Batterie Cassée in Roche-Bois, Jérémie never stopped at the stereotypes associated with his locality: “I had the knack. I wanted to get out. I always wanted to overcome the misery in which I grew up. Today I am proud of my journey.
Trained in the circus arts during his time at Club Med, it was at the hotel that he discovered aerial straps: “It was a discipline I didn’t know at all and that I ended up taming, not without having suffered a lot. And for good reason, it is an art that crushes the body and eats away the skin. You need a mind of steel to practice this discipline.
With his experience and participation in competitions, the artist decided to set up his own business in 2019: “I created Mystral a show of aerial straps. This show allowed me to land a few contracts that allowed me to live off my art. But it was short-lived with the arrival of the Covid-19. Like many Mauritians, I went through difficult times. I had to return to the Club Med team at La Plantation Hotel to ensure my financial security.
But this does not mean that the artist has shelved his many projects: “If there was no pandemic, I would have toured with the show Mystral to allow Mauritians to discover my discipline. However, all this is only a postponement once the situation improves. But my main objective remains the creation of my circus school in order to share my know-how.
