Kishore Kumar Jeewooth, deposed chairman of the Flacq District Council, has been removed from office. This is what Kritananda Naghee Reddy, Acting Assistant Solicitor General, representing the Minister for Local Government, said before the the judge in chambers Patrick Kam Sing this Thursday. The Minister himself was not present at the hearing. Moreover, the Flacq District Council, represented by lawyer Germain Wong Yuen Kook, informed the judge that a new election to designate the new chairman , will take place this Friday, December 29 at 3 pm. The plaintiff, councillor Chandra Dev Bundhoo, represented by solicitor Sandeep Ramlochund, withdrew his request for an injunction.
Minister Husnoo was due to appear in the Supreme Court today to explain why he has not yet dismissed Flacq district chairman Kishore Kumar Jeewooth. A meeting was held yesterday at the Prime Minister’s Office. It was decided that Anwar Husnoo should dismiss Jeewooth. It took the Prime Minister’s intervention for Anwar Husnoo and Kishore Kumar Jeewooth to see reason. The latter has finally been dismissed and the election for a new chairman of the Flacq district council will probably take place on Friday at 3pm.
