The decision was taken by the Souillac Court on Wednesday 23 August where the judicial enquiry, which was due to begin on 28 August, has now been pushed back to 19 September.
The aim of the judicial enquiry is to shed light on the death of the 38-year-old civil servant, who worked in the Procurement Department of the Ministry of Finance.
Pravin Kanakiah had left his car at a parking area in Réduit before disappearing, and his body was then found in the Gris-Gris region on 11 December 2020.
In the meantime, his wife had reported his disappearance to the police.
The group of lawyers, known as the Avengers, had pointed to numerous grey areas in the case.
