She still doesn’t believe it. Indeed, Sheryl Smith never imagined that she would walk away with the ‘Best Influencer’ award: “To tell you the truth, my nomination came as a surprise. But I had absolutely no idea I would win first prize. What’s more, I’m still getting used to the term ‘influencer’, because I define myself first and foremost as a content creator and videographer. But I’m really pleased with this award.
Sheryl owes her popularity on social networks to her naturalness: “As an influencer, I wanted to be myself in front of the camera. That’s important if you want to authentically convey the message that the brands, I work with want to convey.”
Buoyed by this accolade, Sheryl plans to continue bringing positivity to people: “As well as the commercial side of the business, I’ve always been committed to bringing positivity to people’s lives. So I want to use the cheque for Rs 100,000 that I was awarded at the competition to carry out a project that is particularly close to my heart.”
