On the morning of Mother’s Day, a 47-year-old self-employed man was cleaning up and disposing of various clutter in a backyard warehouse. He suffered burns to various parts of his body when a spray can he had thrown with other items into a fire he had started exploded. The 50-year-old was admitted to the Burns Unit of Victorial Hospital, Candos.
The accident occurred at around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 26. On that day, the man was removing various unused items such as spray cans, boxes and cartons from a warehouse and putting them on a fire, which he lit. At one point, as he stood in front of the fire to control the flames, a spray can exploded and the flames shot out at him.
He immediately ran inside his house to seek help from his wife. He suffered burns to his hands, face and feet. His wife rushed him to the Triolet Mediclinic. After receiving treatment, he was transferred to Candos hospital and admitted to the Burns’ Unit.
An investigation has been launched into the exact circumstances of this accident.
