A resident of cité Paul Taureau, Sainte Croix was seriously injured in a road accident on Wednesday morning. He was hit head-on by a motorcycle as he crossed the street. After undergoing surgery, he was admitted to the intensive care unit at Jeetoo Hospital. His condition is considered critical.
The accident occurred in the vicinity of SMS Pariaz at around 8:55 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday January 3. In a statement to the Abercrombie police station, the rider of the motorcycle involved in the accident described the circumstances in great detail. He was heading towards Route des Pamplemousses from Route Militaire when, near SMS Pariaz, a man suddenly crossed in front of his motorcycle. He lost his balance, hit the pedestrian and ended up on the asphalt himself. An ambulance from the Service d’Aide Médicale d’Urgence was called to the scene of the accident to transport the injured man to hospital.
