To pay fervent tribute to the artist Vaco Baissac, the Caudan Arts Centre and the Abaim group invite Mauritians to take part in a free ravanne workshop this Saturday, February 3, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
On February 4, 2023, Mauritius lost one of its most illustrious artists, Vaco Baissac. A great defender of the Creole language and fervent promoter of our cultural diversity, Vaco left a rich legacy. To celebrate his contribution in the cultural field, the Caudan Arts Centre is offering all Mauritians the opportunity to immerse themselves in the richness of our cultural mix and traditions.
This Saturday, February 3, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, the general public is invited to try their hand at ravanne, free of charge. This workshop will be led by the Abaim group. Places are limited and must be reserved in advance.
The main aim of this initiative is to honor Vaco’s memory by exploring and preserving the Mauritian artistic and cultural treasures that the late artist so cherished.
