The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Mr Péter Szijjártó, paid a courtesy call, yesterday afternoon, on the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.
Minister Szijjártó, leading a fifteen-person delegation, is on a one-day visit to Mauritius with the main objectives of enhancing trade and investment opportunities and further strengthening the bilateral relations between Mauritius and Hungary.
Prior to his courtesy call on the Prime Minister, the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade met the Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Alan Ganoo, and the Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Mr Darsanand Balgobin at their respective offices.
It is recalled that Minister Szijjártó has been a Member of Parliament for Fidesz since 2002, and began his fifth term in Parliament in 2018. He was Fidesz Communications Director from 2006 to 2010; the Prime Minister’s Spokesperson from 2010 to 2012; and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations at the Prime Minister’s Office from 2012 to 2014. In June 2014 he was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and since 23 September 2014 has been serving as Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
