Brenda Thanacoody Soborun, Director of the Mauritius Examination Syndicate, made the announcement to the press yesterday afternoon. The pass rate for the HSC exams 2023 is 84.4% for the Republic, i.e. 84.31% for Mauritius and 87.03% for Rodrigues.
7,528 candidates took part in the examinations in October/November 2023. 6,354 of them have passed.
Brenda Thanacoody Soborun further informed that the pass rate among the female candidates of the Republic of Mauritius amounts to 86.37% (3,872 successful candidates), and 81.51% among male candidates (2,482 successful candidates).
As for Mauritius, the pass rate stands at 84.31%, with 86.29% (3,739 candidates) among female candidates and 81.40% (2,402 candidates) among male candidates, she added.
The pass rate for Mauritius is 84.4%.
The performance of girls (86.37%) is better than that of boys (81.51%).
Rodrigues performed very well, with a pass rate of 87.03%.
Sharing her in-depth analysis of the Cambridge HSC results 2023 in comparison to those of 2019, she highlighted that an increase of 9.45% pass rate can be noted in the performance of candidates of the Republic of Mauritius, with a pass rate of 74.95% in 2019 as well as in the performance of the candidates of Mauritius, whereby an increase of 9.10% has been noted, following the 2019 pass rate which stood at 75.21%.
Similarly, for Rodrigues, a drastic increase of 19.38% in the pass rate can be noted, when comparison is made with the 2019 success rate of 67.92%, she observed.
She also underlined that all the 37 HSC Professional candidates successfully passed their examinations. As regards schools with more than 95% success rates, they include: Royal College Curepipe (100%); Queen Elizabeth College (97.35%); Dr Maurice Curé State College (97.39%); Droopnath Ramphul State College (95.54%); Loreto College – Curepipe (97.03%); and Loreto College – Quatre-Bornes (95.24%).
