Three investigations were scheduled to take place at the Horse Racing Division headquarters on Wednesday. They concerned jockeys Iannish Taka, Abhishek Sonaram and Rye Joorawon.
The former received a one-day suspension and a fine of Rs5,000 for riding Hardfallingrain on Racing Day 29. The jockey pleaded guilty. He admitted interfering with Narang’s steed at the start of the race.
Rye Joorawon received a one-day suspension and a fine of Rs10,000. He was found guilty of interfering with Colour My Fate. That was on Racing Day 31. Rye Joorawon was driving the Captain Lannister courier at the time. However, he has indicated that he will appeal against the penalty.
Abhishek Sonaram received the same sanction. He also received a one-week suspension and a fine of Rs 10,000 for obstructing the Fort Commander courier on Racing Day 28.
Bernard Fayd’herbe’s appeal will be heard this Friday 13 October at the GRA headquarters. He is contesting his suspension, decided over a year ago by the HRD. This related to his ride on Castle of Glass on 13 May 2022. He was suspended for one year and fined Rs100,000.
