The five starters who will take part in Saturday’s main race, which will be contested over 1600m, have a chance of winning. Royal Wulff will be aiming for their second win in Mauritius after winning The Duchess Of York Cup (1400 – G2) in 2022.
Royal Wulff tried everything on his last outing, but he couldn’t catch Captain Flynt. He ran second twice this season as he was narrowly beaten by Walls Of Dubrovnik on the 15th meeting. He won the Duchess in 2022 for the Gujadhur stable but he was never able to confirm.
Now trained by Shirish Narang, Royal Wulff seems to have progressed. He is in much better physical condition than he was on his last outing, and he will rely on his good finish to snatch his second win in Mauritius.
There will be tough opponents in this race. Undercover Agent remains a classy horse. He hadn’t been able to race in front last time against Captain Flynt. He will break from a good lane, and he can take the lead. His rivals will have to be strong to beat him if he finds himself in this position without much effort. He will have the French jockey Cédric Ségeon in the saddle this time.
Blackburn Roc is a very consistent competitor. You must ignore his last two races because he was up against much better horses. It is to be feared in this field.
Special Blend won as expected on its previous race. He had some health problems, and he is back to competition quite fast. He will be there at the finish if he has fully recovered.
Hubble tried his best on its last outing, but he was caught in the final meters by Special Blend and Lunafacation. He will carry a light weight and he can try to win from pillar to post.
