On this Saturday 2nd April 2022, the Hindu community in Mauritius celebrated the arrival of the New Year. Gudhi Padwa was celebrated by the Marathi community and Navsamvatsar was celebrated by the Arya Samaj community. In this context with the new sanitary measures announced recently, the celebrations of the Hindu New Year have been done at national level.
Indeed, the Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail, Alan Ganoo has participated in a cultural programme as the chief guest. The celebrations were organised at national level by the Mauritius Marathi Mandali Federation in collaboration with the Mauritius Marathi Cultural Centre Trust, the Marathi Speaking Union and the Baie Du Cap Marathi Kaylashnath Mandir at the seat of Baie Du Cap Marathi Kaylashnath Mandir.
In the same context, the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Welfare, Kalpana Devi Koonjoo-Shah and the minister of Civil Service and Commerce and Consumer Protection, Soudesh Callychurn have made the honours with their presence at the Trois Boutique Triolet Arya Samaj, where two major events were celebrated. The first event was the Navsamvatsar (Hindu New Year) and the second one was the Arya Samaj Sthapna Diwas (foundation day of the Arya Samaj). On that occasion, a maha yagya was performed respecting all sanitary precautions.
