The Plaint with summons followed the formal notice, which had been served a few weeks ago. The Independent Police Complaints Commission and the Disciplined Forces Service Commission have also been cited in the document. This action follows the search of her home on 27 October 2022. Through her solicitor, Pazhany Rangasamy, Hemlata Gaya, the mother-in-law of Sanjeev Teeluckdharry, is claiming Rs 50 million from the head of the Special Striking Team. She claims that the search of her house was unjustified, irresponsible and malicious. In her complaint, Hemlata Gaya explains that she is not in good health and that she was alone at home when the police arrived in numbers. She says she was terrorized by the way the police acted. According to Hemlata Gaya, the police, who had a search warrant, were looking for drugs, stolen goods and weapons that have allegedly been used to commit crimes. Hemlata Gaya is claiming damages of Rs 50 million from ASP Ashik Jagai for the harm caused. The case will be heard in the Supreme Court on 02 March.
