Gurib-Fakim Has Initiated The Judicial Review Process

The Republic’s former president began this Wednesday the procedure of challenging, by way of judicial review, the conclusions of the Caunhye Commission concerning her. In the afternoon, she held a press briefing alongside José Moirt, the lawyer said that this is the leave application that has been filed. This is the first step. “We are asking the Supreme Court for permission to challenge the commission of enquiry,” said José Moirt. As for Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, she said that today, “the hour of truth has come”. She is happy that the public will finally know her side of the story through this legal process. She denounced the gossip against her in the press. She also deplored the fact that she had been attacked professionally but also below the belt. “My integrity has been attacked. They say they want to empower women and when a woman dares, they put her down in this way,” she said.
