A Central Water Authority (CWA) operator suffered the worst humiliation of his life after being assaulted by his police girlfriend outside the OMG nightclub in Grand Baie in the early hours of Sunday December 24. His girlfriend’s other colleagues also joined in the beating. The 26-year-old victim, who lives in the village of Triolet, was taken to the northern hospital for treatment.
In his complaint to the Grand Baie police station, the man explained that he had gone to a nightclub with his 22-year-old girlfriend at around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday December 24. At around 2.30 a.m., they were having a drink, when one of his girlfriend’s colleagues, who works at the Triolet police station, approached his girlfriend and pulled her towards her, before taking her out onto the dance floor. Shocked, he says he blamed his girlfriend for the situation. At the same time, the policewoman grabbed him by the collar and dragged him forcibly into the shower room, telling him, “sa fam la pa pou twa, mo gagn drwa fer seki mo envi avek li, mo ene gard mwa, nanien to pa pou kapav fer mwa”.
The young man was pushed to the ground by the policewoman. His knee was injured. As he was leaving the nightclub at around 3.30 a.m., an argument broke out between him and his girlfriend. The young woman hit him on the head, slapped him across the face and bit him on the chest. Other police colleagues of his girlfriend joined in the beating.
As a witness, he cited one of his friends from Pointe aux Piments, who was in his company.
