The decision has been taken following a meeting between the concerned parties on Tuesday 16 August. The Go Slow used as a threat has been postponed.
It was a meeting to negotiate the removal of the threat. The management of the Cargo Handling Corporation Limited (CHCL) assured the union members of the Port Louis Maritime and Employees Association (PLMEA) that they will take into consideration the Collective Agreement of 2016. It was also mentioned that the proposed reform of the working conditions of employees will be abandoned. Another meeting between the two parties has been scheduled for Monday 22 August. So, this strike order has been temporarily put on hold.
This Collective Agreement has not been renewed since 2020. This agreement concerns the working conditions, the salaries of the different managers and the payment of overtime.
