In a message posted on his Facebook page, the chief commissioner of the Rodrigues Regional Assembly, Johnson Roussety denounces the spectre of a gasoline shortage in the island due to the disruption of the maritime link between Mauritius and Rodrigues. “The gasoline stocks in Rodrigues are running out,” he wrote. He also poster a video of long queues in front of gas stations. According to Johnson Roussety, this situation is due to the lack of planning in the supply of Rodrigues. The chief commissioner explains that the operator’s reserves have not been replenished due to lack of supply by vessels of the Mauritius Shipping Corporation Ltd. He says that several economic services, such as boaters and sand extractors, as well as the public, will not have gasoline at the end of the year. The next supply of gasoline arrives on Saturday. “This situation is unacceptable,” he said.
