Lorraincie Henriette, a 41-year-old gardener and resident of Cité EDC, Black River, was arrested this Tuesday morning, October 4, on a charge of drug trafficking. A raid by police officers of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) of the South Division at her home led to the discovery of heroin, synthetic drugs and cannabis, all estimated at Rs 2,288,802 and a sum of Rs 105,700, suspected to come from the sale of these drugs.
It is around 6:40 am this Tuesday morning of October 04 that a team of policemen of the ADSU of the South division, led by the chief inspector, Harry Appasamy, landed at the residence of Lorraincie Henriette. The woman, who works as a gardener, is suspected of being involved in drug trafficking. After receiving information about her illicit activities, she was placed under surveillance before the police officers arrived at her home. A search was made and found 12 black plastic parcels in which there was heroin, all weighing a weight of 119.73 grams, 204 doses of heroin, 16.23 grams, 110 doses of synthetic drug and 2 plastic parcels in which there was synthetic drug, all weighing 17.62 grams and 134.21 of cannabis.
These police officers of the ADSU also seized the sum of Rs 105 700 suspected to come from the sale of the drug and all the equipment used for the packaging of the drug. Lorraincie Henriette was taken to the ADSU office in Rose-Belle for questioning before being brought before the court in Bambous on a provisional charge of drug trafficking. The seized drugs were transported to the ADSU headquarters in the Central Barracks.
