Ganesh Chaturthi: Morendezvous Online Reservation Service Available In 53 Temples

The free online registration service, MoRendezVous, an initiative of the the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, is available as from midnight tonight to devotees to schedule their prayers for the forthcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

The online reservation service will be applicable to the 53 temples that are affiliated with the Mauritius Marathi Mandali Federation. A person can make reservation for four family members. The online service is accessible via the website https://morendezvous.govmu.org or the application can be downloaded from Google Play Store or Apple Store.

In this context, a presentation of MoRendezVous online service was held this afternoon at the Mauritius Marathi Mandali Federation in Moka in presence of the Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Mr Darsanand Balgobin; the Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Alan Ganoo; the Member of Parliament, Mr Ashley Ittoo; and other personalities.

Minister Balgobin highlighted that the online platform has been put in place for the public to book the time and date that they want to converge to the temples. He pointed out that the MoRendezVous application will enable to monitor the flow of devotees while reiterating that only 50 people will be allowed at a time.

The Minister stated that devotees will be able to register according to the available slots. Devotees can scan their QR code from their mobile phone or print the QR code, obtained while making their reservation, so as to get access to the temples, he added.

For Father Laval’s pilgrimage, around 10,000 applications have been registered on MoRendez Vous, he added.

For his part, Minister Ganoo highlighted that for this year, the celebrations will not be as similar to those of previous years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and thus urged the public to show discipline and to adhere to sanitary measures.

Mr Ganoo also made an appeal to socio-cultural representatives to ensure proper coordination so that devotees avoid huge gathering at immersion sites.

As for Mr. Ittoo, he indicated that this technological tool will facilitate in the smooth running of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival during this pandemic period.
