A vacation turned tragic for a group of French tourists who came to Mauritius for the festive season. One of them, aged 65, was bitten by a yellow fly and died in a clinic in Grand Baie on the afternoon of Saturday December 23.
The sixty-year-old had come to Mauritius to celebrate Christmas and New Year with his family. No one could have imagined that he would lose his life after being bitten by a yellow fly. Yet five years ago, this man, who suffered from diabetes, had only just come down with a similar sting in France. On Saturday December 23, he announced to his family and friends that he wasn’t feeling well after being bitten by a yellow fly.
He was immediately rushed to a clinic in Grand Baie. He was treated, but unfortunately did not survive. His body was subsequently taken to the morgue of the Dr A.G.Jeetoo Hospital in Port-Louis for treatment.
