Elected Miss Earth 2019, Gyanisha Ramah added a new title to her list of honors on September 29. Our compatriot became the first Mauritian to parade at an altitude of 19,024 feet in Ladakh – a mountainous region in northern India. This feat is also listed in the Guinness World Records.

Invited by the LAEA (Ladakh Arts and Education Association) five months ago, Gyanisha makes no secret of her delight at having represented Mauritius at this fashion show: “This show is the most memorable for me since the start of my modeling career. And for good reason: it’s the very first fashion show in the world to have been held at such an altitude, which has earned it a place in the record books. I’m very happy to have been part of this adventure, and to have helped my country shine on the international stage.
On the other hand, parading at such an altitude was no picnic: “At this altitude, oxygen is scarce, not to mention the temperature, which easily drops to minus 2 degrees. All the same, I have some very good memories,” Gyanisha emphasizes.
