A 23-year-old self-employed man spent the night in a sobering cell at the Vacoas detention centre. This after the car he was driving collided head-on with a wall and a motorbike on John Kennedy Street, Vacoas on the evening of Wednesday 17 August. The young man, who lives in Allée Brillant, Vacoas, was given a breath test, which came back positive. He had 57 micrograms of alcohol in his breath.
It was at about 10:25 pm on Wednesday, August 17 that this accident occurred at John Kennedy Street, Vacoas near the Codex Exhaust building. A grey Mazda crashed into a wall before hitting a Yamaha motorbike, which was parked under a porch right in front of Codex Exhaust. An individual came forward to say that the motorbike is owned by Coca Cola Ltd.
The driver of the car was taken to the Vacoas Police Station for questioning about the circumstances of the accident. He was subsequently given a breath test by a police officer from the Emergency Response Service, an exercise that proved positive. The Vacoas resident was placed in a drunk tank.
