The Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) suspects that the Rs 33 million worth of drugs intercepted Thursday off Le Morne beach was destined for a person known to the authorities.
According to our information, the owner of the boat is currently on parole, following the search of his house in 2019 where a large sum of money had been found.
The three suspects, Navindra Guness, Aurélien Edouard and Miguel Basse were brought before the Bail and Remand Court, this Saturday, April 2. They were all taken back to the police cell for questioning on Monday, April 4. A provisional charge of importation of cannabis for trafficking was retained against them. These three skippers were intercepted off Le Morne last Thursday after a meticulous operation prepared by the Mauritian police.
They all confessed to have gone to Reunion Island to recover the drugs. The police hope that during their interrogations, they will give the name of the sponsor or sponsors.
