The WHO has decided to downgrade Covid-19 from an international public health emergency to a persistent health problem. The Ministry of Health in Mauritius has this taken the appropriate measures. Hence, COVID-19 screening centres will now operate as FluClinics, which will be operational from 8am to 10pm daily.
For COVID 19, screening tests will be at the discretion of the attending physicians. However, admission procedures will remain the same. Positive patients will be informed of the number of days of isolation they need to undergo by their GPs, and this will be mentioned on the medical certificate if necessary.
Patients requiring urgent hospitalisation will be admitted initially to the intensive care unit at Jeetoo Hospital, where 3 beds are available, and then to the SSRN Hospital, where the same number of beds are available. Positive babies and infants requiring urgent care will be admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Jeetoo Hospital.
