I consider myself a versatile artist. Art is an integral part of my life. From a very young age, the desire to create was felt. When others were engaged in outside activities, I was better off with my colors and papers to let my imagination run wild. I would draw whatever came to mind. This passion was further reinforced at school and it made my art teacher proud, whom I salute very low. At the university, we were exposed to different forms of art, including painting with its different techniques, sculpture and other forms such as batik, calligraphy, pottery, tapestry, pyrography, printing and others. With sculpture I felt this vibration of giving life while manipulating cement, clay or paper mache. And I decided that one day I would make this my profession. And my dream came true through Hindu Girls’ College with almost 32 years of service to my credit.
As Art is innate in me, the need to create is always felt. An artist is never at rest as he has a head with a mechanism that works continuously.
I am happy and proud to have shared my passion with my students from all over the island and overseas.
I end with this famous quote from Picasso:
“I am always doing that which I can do, in order that I may learn how to do it.”
…..and the process continues endlessly.
