Since 11 December 2023, no fewer than 2,534 people have been infected with the disease. On Tuesday 5 March, the Ministry of Health reported that 491 active cases had been recorded. Despite awareness campaigns and fumigations, the number of sufferers remains high. As of last Tuesday, 494 cases had been recorded.
In Rodrigues too, the situation is alarming, with the number of active cases reaching a total of 602, even exceeding that of Mauritius.
