After Roshi Bhadfain, BDO & Co Ltd, Yacoob Ramtoola and Afsar Ebrahim, it is now Akilesh Deerpalsing’s turn to get permission from the Supreme Court Being to challenge the Britam report. On Monday, Justices David Chan Kan Cheong and Nicholas Oh San-Bellepeau granted leave to Akilesh Deerpalsing, former adviser to the Ministry of Good Governance and Financial Services. This was after the Principal State Counsel, Najiyah Nuha Jeewa, who represented the Commission of Inquiry, told the judges that she did not intend to object to the first part of the judicial review process. But, she stressed that she retained the right of challenging Deerpalsing’s application at the second stage.
