Must Read

Louis Dominique Seedeeal, better known as Darren the Activist, was granted parole on Saturday, April 23, 2022. This followed his appearance before the Magistrate of the Bail and Remand Court in Port Louis where he was accused of violating the ICT Act and participating in an illegal demonstration. The police did not object to his release.

Thus, Dominique Seedeeal will have to appear at the Rose-Hill Court this Monday, April 25, to provide a bail of Rs 15,000. He will also have to sign an IOU of Rs 100,000. However, an objection to leave the country hangs over him.

On the other hand, it should be noted that two charges have been filed against the activist, Darren Seedeeal, including sedition in violation of Section 206 (i) (a) (3b) and violation of the Criminal Code Act of 2018.

In addition, Magistrate Arun Rohamally made it clear to Dominique Seedeeal that several conditions are attached to his parole, including, he will have to report to the Grand Bay Police Station on Sunday, April 24, 2022 between 06:00 in the morning and 18:00.

Another condition imposed on Louis Dominique Seedeeal is that he must report to the Grand Bay Police Station every day between the hours of 6am and 6pm.

His activities on social networks are limited to his Facebook page, Radio Mo Pep. He must refrain from using this page to incite the public to participate in demonstrations. He is prohibited from participating directly or indirectly in demonstrations without prior authorization from the authorities.

As a reminder, activist Darren was arrested on the afternoon of Friday, April 22, in Camp Levieux as he began a demonstration. His arrest was the detonator of serious incidents at Camp Levieux and high tension in front of the Central Barracks and other areas of the country, including Floréal and Residence Barkly, among others. After a stay in hospital and a night in Alcatraz, Darren appeared in Intermediate Court on Saturday morning in Port-Louis before being released on parole.
