The spread is increasing in both Mauritius and Rodrigues. The 4000-case mark has been passed in the tenth district.
The total count is 4 127 positive cases as of Wednesday 09, as well as 37 admissions in the last 24 hours, including three patients on oxygen. However, 392 patients have been cured. We deplore one death, that of Jacques Goah, 73 years old and resident of Triolet. He died in ENT hospital on Wednesday, he was previously admitted to the North Hospital. He was not vaccinated and suffered from co-morbidities.
In Rodrigues, it is the second death due to Covid 19 that is being publicised. Julienne Jean Pierre aged 81 years died on Tuesday 08. She had several comorbidities and complications. She did not move around much and would have contracted the virus from people who visited her.
The vaccine is progressing with a rate of 985,220 people for the first dose, 936,735 people for the second dose and 385,301 for the third/booster dose.
