A police document highlights five deaths attributed to Covid 19 from Sunday 19 to Monday 20. The deceased are three men and two women aged between 28 and 77 years. According to a statement from the ministry, the result of the latest sequencing reveals that we have 10 new cases of Omicron registered.

The only one reported is the former Superintendent of Police, Judoonundun Gunputh, 72 years old from Curepipe. He was not vaccinated and had no comorbidities. The other 4 are still reported to be attributed to Covid 19 and not directly to Covid 19. This complaint was made
14 positives cases , 24 admissions
The figure of the day according to the daily communiqué of the Ministry of Health is 14. However, there have been 24 admissions to regional hospitals and 2 new admissions to New ENT Hospital. For this Monday the Ministry counts 5 patients released from the ENT Hospital and 6 patients released from the regional hospitals. Since March 2021, the country has had 22,979 cases of infection, of which 21,461 have been completely cured. According to the statement, 937,052 people have been vaccinated, 908,964 have received both vaccinations and 171,084 people have received a booster dose.
10 cases of Omicron in circulation
Of 100 samples, dated 23 November to 5 December, sent for sequencing to South Africa, 10 are of the omicron variant, including 8 local cases and 2 imported cases. The other 90 are of the Delta variant, of which 78 are local and 12 imported. The Department of Health stated that the 8 local Omicron cases were detected between 23 and 27 November. The patients were all vaccinated, did not require hospitalisation and have already recovered.
Cessation of disinfection process
This decision was announced on 16 December. According to the circular in question from the Ministry of Health, the disinfection exercise will no longer be carried out after deaths in hospitals, clinics, homes and cemeteries. It will be the responsibility of the bereaved family to disinfect the premises as soon as the body is removed from the home by the funeral companies. The families will be informed by the health inspectors of the disinfectant to be used.
