There are 173 asymptomatic cases and 6 serious cases which have been admitted to the ENT Hospital in Vacoas on Thursday 5 August. More than half a dozen schools have been closed today with their resumption scheduled for Monday 9 August.
It is now down to 0.34% of the population being infected. However, the vaccination campaign is going ahead with the Ministry of Health announcing that 704,788 people have been primo-vaccinated and 568,720 people are fully inoculated.
However, a number of schools had to close today for disinfection. At the Darwin College in Flacq, a student has been tested positive and was already in quarantine. Classes have been interrupted during the middle of the day and students have been sent home. At Mahatma Gandhi SSS in Moka, a Grade 8 student has been tested positive. At Baichoo Madhoo School, a teacher has been tested positive while at Ebène Boys SSS, a Grade 10 student, at Mauritius College Girls in Curepipe, a Grade 9 student, at Medco College in Port Louis, a Grade 10 student, and at Imperial College in Curepipe, it is still a student was tested positive. These schools will not reopen until early next week.
