Commonwealth Heads of State and Government continued their work in Executive Sessions on Saturday 25 June 2022 at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2022.
Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth and his peers then participated in a retreat before concluding the summit with the adoption of a Joint Declaration.
Commonwealth leaders are meeting in Kigali, Rwanda, where CHOGM 2022 is being held.
In parallel, roundtables with the participation of foreign ministers and civil society organisations in the Commonwealth countries are being held.
On the sidelines of CHOGM 2022, the Prime Minister held a series of bilateral meetings. He met with the leaders of Kenya, Tanzania, India, Pakistan, Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the Maldives. The Prime Minister discussed the possibilities of developing economic and trade relations with his interlocutors.
The Prime Minister also met with Prince Charles of Wales. They discussed the relevance of the Commonwealth in a global context marked by the Covid health crisis, the effects of war in Europe and climate change.
They also discussed, in particular, the state of our lagoons and the preservation of coral.
