The judokate Christiane Legentil won the bronze medal in the category of less than 57 kg. She allows Mauritius to collect its second medal in these Games after the one won by Roilya Ranaivosoa in weightlifting.
In the quarter-finals Christiane Legentil defeated Christie Qona from New Zealand and in the semi-finals she fell to the British Acelya Toprack. She won the bronze medal for having reached the semi-finals.
Silver medallist at the African Championships in Oran, Algeria last May, Christiane Legentil had already raised her level in this category of less than 57 kg which was not hers.
Thus for these Commonwealth Games the rise in power of the judokate was not to be neglected and Christiane Legentil evolved with a lot of confidence to add a new medal to her prize list which already counts four medals on the African level.
