The National Transport Corporation (Corporation Nationale de Transport – CNT) has indicated its intention to proceed with the purchase of 15 new mini-buses.
These 15-seat air-conditioned buses will serve passengers living in the Wilhems Plains. A tender exercise for the purchase of these new mini-buses has just been launched.
The purchase of these fifteen new buses follows the success of four minibuses which have already started to serve the St Hubert – Curepipe, and Carreau Acacia – Rose Belle routes.
These buses have fifteen seats. The Ministry of Finance has agreed to the request made by the Ministry of Transport to finance the purchase of these four new minibuses to the tune of Rs 75 million.
The CNT has 544 buses and is the largest provider of bus transport in the country. The Transport Minister is of the opinion that CNT will continue to play a social role in the country. The proof: 30 to 40% of its roads are not profitable are served by CNT.
