A Fitness Training Session for athletes participating in the forthcoming 12th edition of the Commission de la Jeunesse et des Sports de l’Océan Indien (CJSOI), was held on Saturday 24 September 2022, at the Côte D’Or National Sports Complex, in Côte d’Or.
The session, followed by a gathering, comprised several activities in order to enhance the athletes’ performance at the Games. These included psychological preparations and training and fitness programmes in different sports categories such as Athletics, Combats and High Intensity Interval Trainings.
The Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, Mr Jean Christophe Stephan Toussaint, present on the occasion, highlighted that the Fitness Training Session for athletes has been organised in the context of the CJSOI Games 2022 that will be hosted from 04 December to 11 December 2022 in Mauritius. Several topics pertaining to the mental and physical preparations of athletes before the competitions were discussed during the session, he emphasised.
Furthermore, he indicated that this was equally a team-building event in order to provide the sports ambassadors of the Republic of Mauritius with the opportunity to get to know their peers and do some networking before the Games.
“The athletes were also tested, through the High-Performance Centre based in the Sports Complex itself, and which gives sports federations, coaches and athletes, the competitive edge through scientific assessment, training, rehabilitation and monitoring,” the Minister pointed out.
On this score, Mr Toussaint expressed appreciation to have met with the forthcoming CJSOI Games athletes to encourage them and give them the support required to perform well at the Games in December 2022.
