Cité Sainte Claire, Goodlands: Two Arrests For Drug Trafficking

A crackdown operation carried out in Cité Sainte Claire, Goodlands this Thursday, January 5, by the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) of Trou aux Biches resulted in the arrest of two of its residents for drug trafficking. The ADSU faced a hostile crowd, which threw projectiles during this exercise. The two suspects arrested are Louis Sergio Brian Mimi, 25 years old and Jean Daniel Juliette, a 38 year old mason. Brian Mimi was found in possession of 12.59 grams of heroin, 24 psychotropic tablets and the sum of Rs 4250 while Daniel Juliette was arrested in possession of 8.50 grams of synthetic drugs and the sum of 1775. The two suspects will appear in court in Pamplemousses this Friday morning, January 6.

This Thursday, January 5, an operation was set up in Cité Sainte Claire, Goodlands, under the supervision of Assistant Superintendent of Police, Rajendranath Jhurry, head of the ADSU of the Northern Division. This follows the several complaints made against drug trafficking in this neighborhood. Thus, simultaneously, four houses were searched from 10:45 in the morning of January 5.

The men of the ADSU did not have an easy task to carry out this operation. A hostile crowd gathered on the street to oppose the police force. Projectiles were even thrown in the direction of the police officers. This exercise led to the discovery of drugs at the home of two suspects on Hortensia Street, Cité Sainte Claire.

Brian Mimi was arrested after a large bag with a plastic container was found. This contained 100 doses of heroin weighing 12.59 grams, a vial labeled Rivotril Clonazepam containing 24 tablets of Roche 2 and the sum of Rs 4250 that the ADSU suspects to be from the sale of this drug.

This ADSU team also arrested Daniel Juliette, after 55 doses of synthetic drug were found in a transparent plastic bag, 8.50 grams and the sum of Rs 1775. This money is suspected to come from the sale of this drug.

The two suspects were subsequently taken to the ADSU office in Grand Bay for questioning. After a night in detention, these two suspects will be presented before the court of Pamplemousses this Friday, January 6. They are facing a provisional charge of drug trafficking.
