A raid by police officers of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) of Savanne in a forest in Bois Sec, Saint Aubin on Tuesday 18 October resulted in the uprooting of 510 cannabis plants. These plants measure between 15 centimeters to 1 meter 30 and are estimated at Rs 1 530 000. An investigation has been initiated to trace the cultivator of these plants.
It is on the basis of certain information that this team of police officers, led by sergeant Sauteur, landed at this place around 8:30 am this Tuesday, October 18. A beating carried out in this forest of Bois Sec, Saint Aubin allowed to find these plants. After hours of surveillance, the police officers uprooted these plants. No arrests were made.
The 510 cannabis plants were transported to the ADSU headquarters at the Central Barracks as evidence.
In addition, two suspects were apprehended during the day on Tuesday, October 18 for drug trafficking by ADSU men. At 6am, a team led by Sergeant Sookur searched the house of Jean Etiennette Perrine, 33 years old, in Karo Kaliptis, Roche-Bois. This exercise resulted in the seizure of 60 packages of cellophane, each containing cannabis. The whole weighing 16.13 grams. In a plastic bag, these officers found cannabis, 7.52 grams. The market value of this drug is Rs 14 190. A sum of Rs 3400 suspected to come from the sale of this drug was also seized.
On the other hand, the ADSU of Rose-Belle proceeded to the arrest of Mohammad Sidick Cader Bavah, 51 years old and living in L’Escalier, in the evening of Tuesday October 18. A raid carried out at his home led to the discovery of 12.5 grams of cannabis, 2.7 grams of hashish, 220 cannabis seeds, an electronic scale, 6 resealable plastics and a sum of Rs 28,100 and 50 euros. The value of the seized drugs is Rs 41 000.
These two suspects will be brought before the court of Port-Louis and Souillac respectively. They are facing a provisional charge of drug trafficking.
