For the upcoming Hollywood series Dune: Prophecy, Bollywood actress Tabu has been cast. As per a report published in Variety, Tabu is slated to play a recurring character in the series that functions as the precursor to Denis Villeneuve’s 2021 film Dune. Tabu will reprise her role as Sister Francesca, which is defined as “Strong, intelligent, and alluring, Sister Francesca leaves a lasting impression in her wake. Once a great love of the Emperor, her return to the palace strains the balance of power in the capital,” according to the article.
The show was first commissioned in 2019 under the moniker “Dune: The Sisterhood.” The book “Sisterhood of Dune” by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson served as its inspiration. “Set within the expansive universe of ‘Dune,’ created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, ‘Dune: Prophecy’ follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit,” according to the official logline.
In addition, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Johdi May, Mark Strong, and Sarah-Sofie Boussnina all play significant roles in the series.
Two films in the Dune story have been released, and they have combined to gross over $1.1 billion worldwide. Zendaya, Austin Butler, and Timothee Chalamet starred in the film Dune: Part Two, which was released in March of this year.
