Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft who is known as one of the most generous donors of WHO, congratulated India for its successful management in overcoming the Covid-19 pandemic. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed to have achieved a “special figure” of two billion vaccinations in the country within 18 months.
Indian PM Modi, on Sunday tweeted the good news saying, “India creates history again! Congrats to all Indians on crossing the special figure of 200 crore vaccine doses. Proud of those who contributed to making India’s vaccination drive unparalleled in scale and speed. This has strengthened the global fight against COVID-19.”

Bill Gates tweeted on Tuesday praising India by personally tagging PM Modi on “yet another milestone”. The billionaire tweeted, “we are grateful for our continued partnership with Indian vaccine manufacturers and the Indian government for mitigating the impact of COVID-19.”

The Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates, has been extremely influential and a mega-donor to the World Health Organization (WHO). Gates has been a prominent figure in terms of vaccination efforts globally since the inception of the Covid-19 pandemic, via the Gates Foundation.
The billionaire was subjected to scrutiny for cautioning a global pandemic as “inevitable” in the 2015 TED Talk. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO chief, appreciated Gates’s book titled, ‘How to Prevent the Next Pandemic’, published a year earlier. Gates is also given credit for the formation of Global Epidemic Response and Mobilization (GERM) setting precautionary measures for future pandemics with a budget of $1 billion annually.
Bill Gates has also previously praised India for its effort in mitigating the effects the Covid-19 pandemic. On meeting the Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya at the World Economic Forum in Davos held in May, Gates exclaimed, “the country’s (India) success with the vaccination drive and the use of technology to drive health outcomes at scale offers many lessons for the world.”
