In a statement following the ceremony, Minister Gobin highlighted that the Letter of Exequatur signed by the President of the Republic of Mauritius is handed over to Honorary Consuls to confirm their appointment. Honorary Consuls, he stated, are representatives that facilitate communication and enhance bilateral relations between States.
He expressed satisfaction as regards their appointment as Honorary Consuls and emphasised that it is the first time that Mauritius has Honorary Consuls for the above listed countries. This, according to him, will be a great opportunity to have new exchanges and discuss on possible avenues of cooperation.
Minister Gobin further pointed out the importance of having a line of communication and a point of contact in countries to which Mauritius is an active partner while citing the examples of Bahamas, Chad, Ghana, and Angola.
These countries, he added, present great potentials for future development and Mauritius intends to further strengthen its bilateral relations while deepening trade and commercial ties with the support of the Honorary Consuls.
