The enhancement of bilateral relations between Mauritius and Bangladesh was at the forefront of discussions, today in Port Louis, during a courtesy call by the High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Mauritius, Mr Zokey Ahad on the Attorney General, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Maneesh Gobin.
In a statement, High Commissioner Ahad stated that his meeting with Minister Gobin was cordial and friendly, focusing on various potential areas of cooperation between Mauritius and Bangladesh. He stressed the strategic importance of Mauritius as a gateway to Africa and concurrently proposed to Minister Gobin that Bangladesh could serve as a pivotal access point to South Asia and Southeast Asia.
Moreover, he highlighted that discussions encompassed specific subjects including education, labour issues, and challenges related to remittances, underscoring their mutual interest in deepening bilateral ties and exploring avenues for regional connectivity and collaboration.
