The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Blue-Bay is actively looking for a tourist robber since Tuesday February 14. He stole a bag from an Austrian tourist and stole the sum of 2500 euros, or Rs 120 000, at Pointe d’Esny. The suspect, who is hiding either in a cane field or in the woods, would also be involved in two other thefts in Blue-Bay
It is in the afternoon of Tuesday, February 14 that this 69-year-old retired Austrian national reported a case of theft to the police station of Blue-Bay. In his complaint, this tourist, who arrived in Mauritius on Wednesday, February 2 and who is scheduled to leave the country on March 29, explained that he was staying with a family on the Coastal Road of Pointe d’Esny. He reported the theft of his bag between Monday, February 13 ,and about 14 hours on Tuesday, February 14.
His gray bag, he explained, was in the room he occupies. The bag was recovered shortly after, but not the money. According to police information, a 35-year-old resident of La Chaux, Mahebourg is the author of this theft. Since that day, the suspect has not returned to his home.
The police have information that he is hiding in a field of cane or in a wood. He is actively sought.
