A most spectacular accident occurred during the day on Wednesday, November 3 at the junction of the road La Marie and Brewery, Vacoas. A resident of St. Paul, Phoenix lost control of his truck after being attacked by a wasp. This one of the Mitsubishi brand had to leave the road afterwards to tear off an electric pylon on its passenger. The truck driver was not injured.
The driver explained in his statement that he was driving a truck on the road to La Marie when he was attacked by a wasp. He said he let go of the steering wheel to protect himself and during this maneuver he lost control of his truck. The truck then left the road and tore down an electric pylon in its path. As a result of this accident, several subscribers of the Central Electricity Board (CEB) were deprived of electricity. This accident and the hanging wires caused a slowdown in traffic on this road.
CEB technicians were dispatched to the site and worked for hours to restore electricity to the area. An investigation has been initiated at the Vacoas police station to determine the exact circumstances of this accident.
