The national championships U18 disputed over two days ended yesterday at the Maryse Justin stadium in Reduit. If in the U18 category no national record has fallen, it is in the U16 category that a national record has been improved.
It is that of the 100 m men U16 with Luciano Gaiqui who with a time of 10.7 sec in the semi-finals, improved the national record of the distance. The old record was held by Loïc Elise in 11.2 sec and dated from October 17, 2020. In the final, Luciano Gaiqui achieved a time of 10.94 sec.
On the queen distance of these championships, it is Orphée Topize who was the fastest with a time of 10.90 sec (916 points). This performance earned him the title of best performer of these championships ahead of Yohan Murden, winner of the 200 m in 22.11 sec (910 points) while Luciano Gaiqui 904 points closed the march.
In the girls’ category, Louisiana Hattenberger was the best athlete for her performance in the 110 m hurdles (15.1 sec – 883 points). In this ranking, Sophie Eléonore (11m23 – 837 points) in the triple jump took second place while Sheryl Pauline was ranked third for her performance of 12.94 sec (814 points).
