The U18 National Championship of Athletics took place this Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the Maryse Justin Stadium in Reduit. Even if no national record of the category was beaten during these championships, the young people have resumed competition after several months without competition due to health measures related to the COVID-19.
Several athletes have asserted themselves by signing the double: Christopher Bonnapen (800 m-1500 m); Sévérine Daxe (100 m-200 m); Sefora Felix (400 m-400 m hurdles) and Alicia Staub (1500 m-3000 m).
The best performers of these championships were rewarded in four families of events (sprint-hurdles, middle distance, throws and jumps) for girls and boys.
Thus Maeva Thevenet (14.58 sec – 100 m hurdles), Lucas Medon (14.72 sec – 110 m hurdles), Alicia Staub (11:17.45 sec – 3000 m), Christopher Bonnapen (2:08.28 sec – 800m), Claire Joseph (5 m 30 – long distance), Julien Ovide (6 m 34 – long distance) Mathilde Laboonte (10m 49 – shot put) and Olivier André (13m 00 – shot put) stood out.
The next appointment on track is scheduled for October 23 and 30 with the national championship U 20 at the Maryse Justin stadium in Reduit.
