Arassen Kallee has submitted his resignation from the MSM instances. As a result, he has also resigned from the Employment Relations Tribunal and the Veterinary Council Mauritius. Since 2015, he has been appointed by the government. He was the Vice-Chairman of the Veterinary Council, and Arassen Kallee also served as Deputy Chairman of the Independent Review Panel between 2015 and 2018. He joined the MSM in 2014 and was the Campaign Manager for the Sun Party at No 6 in 2014 and was tipped to be a candidate at No 13 in 2019.
Prime Minister withdraws motion challenging Suren Dayal’s private prosecution
The matter relating to Pravind Jugnauth’s motion against the Private Prosecution of Suren Dayal was called before the Supreme Court yesterday. Senior Counsel Désiré Basset, representing the Prime Minister, told the court that the DPP struck out the private prosecution in the Port Louis court last June. He added that Suren Dayal did not challenge the DPP’s decision. As a result, he informed the court that the Prime Minister’s motion was no longer relevant. He therefore asked that it be struck out. It should be noted that Suren Dayal had filed a Private Prosecution against Pravind Jugnauth in 2022 accusing him of making a false declaration regarding his election expenses.
