Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, along with a number of ministers, MPs and other personalities, was present at the Recreation Centre for the Annual Vaish Divas.
In his speech, the Prime Minister spoke of the Chagos issue. He declared that his patience has limits, but the fight goes on for the archipelago to be included in the territory of Mauritius. In his view, it’s unfortunate that countries like the UK, which talk about ‘rule of law’ and respect for UN resolutions and international tribunals, forget all that when it comes to the Chagos, practicing ‘double standards’.
He also spoke of the international crises the country has faced. Pravind Jugnauth emphasized unity and progress, and said he was proud of his government’s achievements. He also spoke of the guaranteed minimum wage of Rs.18,500 made possible by his government and the old-age pension.
The Prime Minister affirmed that he speaks the truth and that if yesterday we were on our knees, today that is no longer the case, because the country is back on track thanks to the efforts and dedication of his government.
The leadership of the All Vaish Parivar Federation saluted the Head of Government for his efforts and initiatives on behalf of Mauritian society.
Sanjay Proag, President of the All Vaish Parivar Federation, declared that the Prime Minister is a person of his word, exemplary and visionary, who respects the elderly, women and young people of our Republic.
He thanked the Prime Minister for his stewardship of Covid-19 and for pursuing the country’s development and modernization in all sectors.
Mahen Sookun, President of the Eastern All Vaish Parivar Federation, said that the large turnout demonstrated the public’s support for the Prime Minister and Mauritius’s economic and social development.
